Recent news

State Championships - Long Course - 9th April 2011

Congratulations to the team of 50 swimmers who competed at the State Championships. Powerpoints had a resounding victory in the overall club points score, gaining 2017 points, with the Malvern Marlins in 2nd place on 1400. It was a fabulous day for the club. Special thanks to Rosa, Jennie and Mark for organising the team and relay entries. Also to Ken Holmes and Sue Bussell for their volunteer work as time-keepers.

Nationals - Perth - 27th to 30th April

Powerpoints sent over a strong contingent of 24 swimmers to compete at the recent National championships. Overall, club members won 41 gold, 43 silver and 22 bronze medals - we know the West is rich in minerals, but I'm sure the locals never expected Victorians to take home so much!

An elite few gained National records: Jennie Bucknell (5 records), Kelly Higgins (3 records), Mark Thompson (1 record) and Lisandra de Carvalho (1 record), as well as a female 4x50m relay team (Jennie Bucknell, Rosa Montague, Marijke Alderson, Lois Hill).

Jennie Bucknell and Mark Thompson also won Vorgee National Champions of the meet, which is an amazing achievement. Congratulations to them for swimming so quickly, over short and long distances.
