We won the nationals!!

We did it!! Our crack team of 30 elite masters athletes won on overall club points at the 2009 Masters National Swimming Championships at Chandler Aquatic Centre in Brisbane, April 30 to May 3. A fantastic effort for an interstate meet with a high standard of competition!

(At the time of writing, the club points tally has not been published by the event organisers; the win was announced and the Founder's Trophy was presented to the club at the Presentation Dinner on the final night.)

We all had an amazing time. In terms of individual performances, team spirit, club performance and the overall standard of competition, this was an outstanding meet.

Several Powerpointers swam multiple lifetime PBs. One of the key factors that spurred many of us on was watching team mates record times that were well beyond expectations.

Recent Powerpoints recruit Daniel Kowalski set three WRs (pending ratification) in the 30-34 age bracket: 200 free (1:53.15), 400 free (3:58.42) and 800 free (8:18.76) and our Head Coach, Brenton Ford, competed for the first time in masters swimming.
