FINA Worlds in Perth - registration open and long distance long course deadline.

We have just received news that the registration system for the 2008 FINA World Masters in Perth is up and running if you want to do your entry now.

The closing date is 23 March, 2008 and our advice is to wait until you know how your training is going and whether you might be carrying any injuries. However, it is interesting to look at the website - www.2008finamasters.org. Go to "booklets" and then the shortened version if you just want to check out the swimming programme.

There are no absolute qualifying standards in place but if you swim slower than the advisory standards then your time will not be published and if the distance is over 200 metres then you can be made to leave the water.

Even though we don't now have to post qualifying times, you may want to swim the longer distances at the Long Distance Long Course meet (2 sessions) in September. The closing date for the 400 IM and 1500 is this Thursday and for the 400 and 800 (all strokes) is next Thursday.  Entry forms are on www.aussivic.com.au and should be sent directly to AUSSI in Williamstown.
